Sewing the S1319 jacket for a wedding outfit
Today, I’m going to talk about about the S1319 jacket and my outfit’s accessories for my best friend wedding. I already told you yesterday about my prep & inspiration and the sewing of the top and the skirt … so we move on!

After 25 million searches for the indispensable jacket or “chic” cape, I realized that I had ordered a vintage pattern some time ago that would be PER-FECT for my project: the S1319 50’s style jackets & bolero by Simplicity.

There was a last-minute change in the lining as I had planned this nice poplin from Katia Fabric (last photo on the right) before stumbling on the DIY District’s silk.
Sewing the S1319 vest
No change on this pattern that I discovered. The illustrated explanations are clear and the construction of the shawl collar with pseudo-pockets is very interesting. I also took advantage of the chambray’s 2 sides to play with the contrasts between the jacket and the collar.
However, I did have a lot of trouble with the collar of the jacket that has 2 angles to 90 degrees to connect … really not easy. I redid back to it several times without being completely satisfied. But it does not show because it’s under the collar. Ha!
Another point of dissatisfaction: the lining that pulls a little on the outer fabric. Despite a good dose of starch, this silk was sliding in all over the place and I’m not sure I cut the pieces very very acurately: /
Note: I didn’t use my entire coupon of 2.25 m of chambray for this vest …
Sew your wedding outfit: don’t forget the accessories
Unlike me then! I thought I was in time and then I had a moment of epiphany when, suddenly, I said to myself “But which bag? What shoes? And the jewels !!!!? Rhâââ.”
In the accessories, I count the brooch, the necklace, the shoes and the pocket.
The brooch is a sumptuous creation in hand embroidery of Ooliku. The necklace was found in Montenegro.
The shoes are from Mellow Yellow which was for me the opportunity to discover Vinted … because buying new shoes at 180 € to wear them once is not really in my mindset. “Fun fact”, I realized only very late in the design of my wedding outfit that I had no pair of matching shoes with a pink and green outfit. Astonishing, no? What a lack in my dressing! They are already resold.
And the clutch, last minute work, will be the subject of a separate article;) Patience!
That’s it for my wedding dress that did not go unnoticed but that I valued a lot of compliments.
Since then, I have worn again the jacket and the top … the skirt being harder to fit in my daily life! XD
